PREVIEW: Wolverines take on high-scoring Steelers

It’s expected to be a lot of goals on Friday night as the Waywayseecappo Wolverines and the Selkirk Steelers face off for the first time this season.

The Wolverines (6-6-1) have the third most goals in the MJHL, with 55. And they will be going up against the highest scoring team, the Steelers (10-2-1), who have scored 62 this year.

Both teams have the league’s best powerplays as well, with the Wolverines ranking first with a 30.2% on the man advantage.

The defence is where the teams differ, with the Steelers doing a much job keeping pucks out of their own net, giving up only 28 so far and being 5th in the league in penalty killing (85.3%).

The Wolverines are coming into the game after a dominating win over the Swan Valley Stampeders on Tuesday, which they won 9-1.

The Steelers have actually lost their last two games, losing to the Winkler Flyers in overtime, and the Winnipeg Blues on Tuesday.
