The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are looking to get their first win of the new year, as they take on the Swan Valley Stampeders for the third time since the Christmas Break.
After losing their first three games of the new year, the Wolverines were busy on Friday, adding Dylan Duzan and Noah Oughton, along with getting back last year’s top scorer for the team, Jack Clarke.
The Wolverines in the first three games, have lost each game by at least two goals, losing to Swan in the first two games, 6-2 and 5-2, and then losing to the Blizzard on Tuesday, 4-2.
For the Stampeders, they beat the Wolverines in those two games, but lost to the Winnipeg Blues on Friday night, 5-4. Swan Valley went into the third period, tied up at 2, but gave up three goals in the first six minutes of the final frame. They did heavily outshot Winnipeg, 48-20.
The Wolverines find themselves two points back of Virden for the final playoff spot in the West Division, and four points up on Swan Valley from the last spot. The Oil Capitals will not be playing until Sunday, when they take on the Niverville Nighthawks.
This will be the second last home game for the Wolverines before a three week stretch with just road games.
