The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are right back at it as they take on the Winnipeg Freeze.
The Wolverines dropped their last game, losing 5-1 to the Steinbach Pistons on Thursday night. The team found themselves trailing early and weren’t able to beat Christian Green till late in the game.
For the Freeze, they were able to snap a 15 game losing streak, beating the Virden Oil Capitals 5-4 in overtime. They coughed up a 4-1 lead after the first period, but Parker Rolston scored his second of the game to give the Freezer their fifth win of the season. The win also helped the Wolverines, since they were able to hold a one point lead on the Oil Capitals in the battle for the last playoff spot in the West Division. Virden plays one more game this weekend, as they head to Dauphin on Saturday night to take on the Kings.
The two teams played a week ago when the Wolverines won 5-2 as Mikey Thomas had a hat trick in the game. The Wolverines won earlier in the year as well, winning 3-1 on home ice. The two teams won’t play again until March 4th, in Waywayseecappo.
This will also be the last game for the Wolverines before the MJHL/SJHL Showcase in Winnipeg. Two players from Waywayseecappo will be going to the Showcase, forward Dru Mushumanski and defenceman Luc
