PREVIEW: Wolverines host Pistons

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are hosting the Steinbach Pistons on Saturday night for their penultimate home game before the Christmas break.

The Wolverines are coming off a 3-1 loss to the Neepawa Titans on Friday night at the Yellowhead Centre, where the game was tied heading into the third period, but the Titans scored two (one in an empty net) to come away with the win.

The Pistons are on a two game winning streak after being both Winnipeg teams in convincing fashion over the week, but they lost to the Dauphin Kings last weekend, 5-2.

The Pistons still sit first in the MJHL with a 22-5-1-0 record, sit 2nd in the league in powerplay and third in penalty kill.

The Wolverines have shored up the penalty kill in the past few games, but their offence dried up again on Friday night, just a few days after putting up seven on the Kings on Tuesday night.

The Wolverines and Oil Capitals are tied for the 4th spot in the West Division, but Virden has the tiebreaker with two wins over the Wolverines this year. The Oil Caps are taking on the Northern Manitoba Blizzard tonight.

This will be the third game between the two teams, as the Pistons have won the first two 3-1, and 5-0.  The next time the two will meet will be in late January.
