PREVIEW: Wolverines head back to Neepawa

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are heading back to Neepawa one week after losing to the Titans last Saturday.

The Wolverines lost 3-1 to Titans, after giving up three powerplay goals in the contest, and not able to beat Neepawa’s goalie, Mason Lobreau until the dying minutes of the game.

Since then, the two teams have played one other game, as the Wolverines took down the top team in the West Division, beating the Dauphin Kings 7-5. The Titans meanwhile played last night, winning in the last minute of regulation, beating the Virden Oil Capitals, which helped the Wolverines get into a playoff spot for the first time this year. The win by Neepawa also helped the Titans to jump into 2nd place in the West Division.

The Wolverines have a 2-1 edge over the Titans so far this season, with the home team winning each game. The two won’t meet again until February 4th in Waywayseecappo, before ending the season series on February 22nd in Neepawa.

As mentioned, the Wolverines had issues with the Titans powerplay in the last game. The Titans sit 2nd in the league with a 26.9% conversion rate with the man advantage. It jumps even higher with a 35.4% rate on home ice.

The Wolverines penalty kill has been dropping as of late, as it now sits at 80.8%, good for 7th  in the league. Its at 73.8% on the road, which is 11th in the league.

This game will be the last West Divison matchup for the Wolverines before the Christmas break, as they will take on the Steinbach Pistons on home ice on Saturday before playing a home and home next week against Niverville.
