The Waywayseecappo Wolverines have a chance to jump back into a playoff position tonight as they take on the Swan Valley Stampeders on Friday night.
The Wolverines have got some help this week with the Virden Oil Capitals losing back to back games. Both teams now have played 49 games, and the Oil Caps are one point ahead of the Wolverines. The Wolverines will play back to back road games this weekend, against Swan Valley and Neepawa. Virden will just play against the Steinbach Pistons on Saturday. The Wolverines and Oil Caps are set to face off on Tuesday in Waywayseecappo.
Wayway comes into tonight’s game winning three of their last five games, including beating the Stampeders on Monday in a 5-4 overtime win. Jack Clarke scored the overtime winner, after the Wolverines blew a two goal lead halfway through the third. The Wolverines lead the season series three games to two, and this will be the last game of the season between the two teams.
The Stampeders meanwhile are seven points back of Virden for the final playoff spot, and even though their chances are slim already, they could get back in it with a win.
