Oil Capitals win second straight OT game against Wayway

The curse of extra time against the Virden Oil Capitals still continues for the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

For the second straight game to start the season, the Virden Oil Capitals beat the Waywayseecappo Wolverines by a score of 4-3 in overtime.

This time, it was Joey Bielik assisted by his brother David, that won the game for the Oil Capitals with a powerplay goal at 3:09 into the extra frame.

The powerplay was off a controversial tripping call by Ben Roulette.

The game was another heartbreaking finish for Wayway, this time after the Wolverines came back from two two-goal deficits.

Virden scored the first two goals of the game in the first period, with Davis Chorney and Nolan Chastko making it 2-0.

The Wolverines answered with Ryan Jossy scoring his first MJHL goal halfway through the second.

But five minutes later, Brody Wilson padded back the two goal lead for Virden.

The Wolverines got out of the period only down by one, after Carson Baptiste scored with a minute and a half left in the 2nd.

In the third, it was Andrew Boucher that tied the game off a feed from Cole Carlson.

And after a few close calls for the Wolverines, the game went to overtime with the winner coming from Joey Bielik.

The game was the opposite shots wise from the night before, as the Wolverines outshot the Oil Caps 33-22. Limiting Virden to just 10 shots in the last two periods before OT.

Owen Larocque stopped 30 shots for the win, while Tresor Wotton stopped 18 in the loss.

The Wolverines next game will be in Portage as they take on the Terriers on Saturday at 7:30pm.
