Oil Capitals Take 7-1 Decision Over Wolverines

Chief Denton George Memorial Multi-Plex in Ochapowace First Nation set the stage for the Wolverines first exhibition game of 2018 on Wednesday night, where they fell 7-1 to the Virden Oil Capitals.

Jackson Orr got the Oil Capitals off to a quick start in the 1st period, scoring at 17:24.

Heading into the 2nd period down one, Wolverines forward Colby Joseph would rip one top corner unassisted to tie the game at 1-1 with 14:31 on the clock. Late in the period, Virden would score three times in the final 8:35, on a pair of goals from Brett Paddock and a single on the power-play from Tristian Thompson.

Taking a 4-1 lead into the third, Virden pounced on the Wolverines quickly, getting a pair of goals from Evan Viaterlik and Hunter Andrew. Trevor Hunt rounded out the scoring on the power-play for Virden, giving them the 7-1 victory.

Virden led the way in the shot category 41-34.

The Wolverines return to the ice on Thursday night when they host the SJHL’s Yorkton Terriers.
