The Waywayseecappo Wolverines were two minutes away from taking their game against the OCN Blizzard to extra time, until a turnover in the neutral zone ended up in the back of their net.
Adam Belzil jumped all over a turnover and went in on a breakaway and beat Jase Wareham with 1:58 left on the clock to give the Blizzard a 3-2 lead late in the third.
The game was back and forth all the way through, with the Wolverines never taking the lead.
The Blizzard started the scoring when Ethan Bibeau took advantage of a turnover in the Wolverines zone and scored his first goal of his MJHL career when he deked out Wareham.
After a close call for OCN, the Wolverines eventually answered when Sebastien Hicks scored his first MJHL goal as well, on a rebound that went off the pads of Loic Morin.
The Blizzard took the lead late in the period on a powerplay goal when Adam Belzil scored to make it 2-1.
After a scoreless second period, the Wolverines finally answered in the third when they took advantage of a 5-on-3 opportunity and Garett Zasitko was able to fire it past Morin to make it 2-2.
But in the final minutes, it was Belzil who won the game for the Blizzard.
OCN jumps six points up on the Wolverines, but with a Neepawa win on the same night, the Wolverines fall to 5th in the Division and out of a playoff spot as of the moment.
The Wolverines have lost four in a row, losing in all four games against West Division opponents above them in the standings.
Their next game will be on Tuesday when they take on the Winnipeg Blues at 7:30pm.
