NAHC 2026 Preview

As the month of May rolls in, so will another edition of the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship as this year’s event will take place in Regina, Saskatchewan.

From May 4th to 9th, Team Manitoba, along with six other provinces will be competing for the top indigenous Under-18 hockey team in the country.

Like in year’s past, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines will be represented by some of the team’s prospects, Last year, Mikey Thomas and Noah Oughton, who were part of of the Wolverines success this past season, brought Team Manitoba to a gold medal championship in Kamloops, British Columbia.

This year, the Wolverines will be represented by signed prospects for next season, Liam Flett and Peyton Thiessen. Team Manitoba will also have Waywayseecappo-born, Athens Shingoose on the team. Shingoose is a 1st round WHL draft pick by the Prince Albert Raiders, and played a game last year with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

Team Manitoba will be playing four games in the round robin, before taking part in playoff games starting Monday at 10:00am against Team Nova Scotia. Playoffs will start on Friday.
