Moffatt heads to Minot State

Waywayseecappo Wolverines forward Joey Moffatt has committed to play for the Minot State University Beavers in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.

Moffatt joined the Wolverines in January of 2022, picking up 9 goals and 21 assists in 23 games. He also picked up three goals in the team’s four playoff games.

The Portage la Prairie, MB product also won a Turnbull Cup (2019) and Anavet Cup (2019) during his three seasons with the Portage Terriers. He had a total of 187 points in 186 games in the MJHL.

Moffatt says he has plenty of friends that played at Minot State and they had nothing but good things to say about the school.

He also played in Minot for three months during his junior career, in the NAHL with the Minot Minotauros.

“It doesn’t feel like too much of a big city, but still is a good size,” says Moffatt. “I liked it when I was there before, so it’ll feel good to go back.”

Even with his short time as a Wolverine, Joey says he still will have memories from his time in Waywayseecappo.

“There has been a real change to the program since I came into the MJHL,” says Moffatt. “You get treated like a professional. Taylor and Josh will come in the back and speak to you about more than just hockey, it’s nice to have.”

The Wolverines would like to congratulate Joey Moffatt on this great accomplishment, and thank him for everything he has done for the organization.
