Mathison signs with Wisconsin-Superior

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are happy to announce that forward Boone Mathison has committed to the University of Wisconsin-Superior for the 2023-24 season.

Mathison was named the Wolverines unsung hero of the year for the 2022-23 season in his final season with the team. Over his two seasons with the Wolverines, he picked up 53 points in 91 games. This past season he had 38 points in 54 games. He suited up in two MJHL Showcase events as well.

The Tomah, Wisconsin native said his time in Waywayseecappo was amazing and was an eye-opening experience.

“I learned a lot of new things being an American coming up to Canada,” said Mathison. “I’ll miss the coaches and staff along with my teammates. I had awesome billets that will be impossible to forget. I learned a lot about first nation culture as well which was great.”

Mathison will be pursuing a Transportation and logistics major at Wisconsin-Superior, and said it was a school he was eyeing for quite a while.

“They’re one of few schools in the country that offer the exact major I want to pursue and I believe in the direction their hockey program is headed.”

The Wolverines would like to congratulate Boone on joining the Yellowjackets, and thank him for everything he has done for the organization.
