LaBelle Leads Wolverines to 3-0 Shutout Win Over Blizzard

Isaac LaBelle stopped all 27 shots on the way to his second shutout of the season and the Waywayseecappo Wolverines picked up a crucial two points in a 3-0 victory over the OCN Blizzard on Thursday night in the valley.

Waywayseecappo had a jump in their step early on in the first period and it would certainly pay off.

Trent Halfdanson sent a pass off the stick off Jake Bestul that would bounce off the end boards to Jaymes Knee who snapped it past the glove of Dorian Laganiere just 3:21 in.

The Wolverines would get a pair of powerplay’s, but couldn’t quite get any high-quality scoring chances and would exit the first twenty minutes of play with a 1-0 lead.

In the second period, the two clubs would get into some heated battles and get their chances, but neither goalie would break. Conrad Phillips and Gerrick Ripley would have a 2-on-1 that Ripley would fan on in the blue paint and go just wide of the net.

The Wolverines would continue to keep at it in the third period and find the back of the net just after their powerplay chance expired.

Dylan Soosay took a pass from Ryley Cardinal and walked into a slapshot in the slot which beat Laganiere glove side to give the Wolverines a 2-0 lead.

The Blizzard would pull their goalie for the extra attacker in the late going and Brandon Lawson would score on the empty net to put the Wolverines in front 3-0 and give the club their 20th victory of the season.

Now 20-24-2-2 on the year, Waywayseecappo will host OCN on Friday night in the rematch at 7:30.
