Kings snap Wolverines win streak

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines win streak was snapped at six games as the Dauphin Kings roared back in third period to win 4-2.

The much anticipated battle for first place in the West Division was a defensive affair with a Kings comeback at the end of the game.

In the first period, the Wolverines were given plenty of powerplay chances, but the only goal in the period was on even strength.

Andrew Boucher made a great move around the defence and beat Carson Cherepak to give the game its first goal.

In the second period, Ben Hackl tied the game up for the Kings on a 5-on-3 powerplay goal.

The Wolverines would jump out in front before the end of the period after a nice passing play that ended with Owen Wheatley getting his first MJHL goal.

In the third, it fell all apart for Waywayseecappo, as they gave up three unanswered goals.

Nick Braun scored midway through the period to tie it up after a shot from close to the point that beat Liam Tereposky.

Andrew Andries got another one past the goaltender to give the Kings their first lead of the game.

Then with four minutes left to go, Nick Braun put the finishing touches on the game to go up 4-2.

The Kings move to 10-3-0 on the year and they are now tied with Waywayseecappo on top of the West Division standings with 20 points each.

The two teams reunite on Saturday in Waywayseecappo at 7:30pm.
