Kings rout Wolverines

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines lost their second straight game after losing 5-1 to the Dauphin Kings.

After scoring the first goal of the game, the Wolverines let in five unanswered to drop an important two points to a division rival.

The Wolverines started the scoring with Aiden Sotas getting his first as a Wolverine. There was some discussion after the goal on whether it was goaltender interference as two players got tangled in front and ran overĀ  Kings goaltender Cole Sheffield. But the referees upheld the call making it 1-0 Waywayseecappo.

But just over a minute later, Jamie Valentino scored to tie it up. Then 46 seconds later, it was Rylan Gibbs who put the Kings out in front to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

In the second period, the Kings added to their lead.

First it was Alex Senf, scoring his 13th of the season just under five minutes into the period.

Matthew Gough scored just over five minutes later to give the Kings a 4-1 lead heading into the third period.

The Kings added the sole goal in the third period when Blake Boudreau scored a powerplay goal.

Both teams were penalized with 26 minutes of penalties, but the Kings had six powerplay chances to the Wolverines one.

Cole Sheffield stopped 37 shots in the game to Tresor Wotton’s 25 in the loss.

The two teams play again on Saturday in Waywayseecappo at 7:30pm.
