HC/GM Landyn Cochrane signs multi-year extension

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are excited to announce that Head Coach and General Manager Landyn Cochrane has signed a multi-year extension to stay with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

Cochrane, a former Wolverine himself, has been part of the coaching staff since 2023 when he started as an assistant coach. The next year, he was promoted to Head Coach and General Manger and has put up a 54-54-8 record behind the bench since then.

The team has made the playoffs in each of Cochrane’s first two seasons, and won the franchise’s first playoff series this past spring when the Wolverines swept the Dauphin Kings in the first round, before bowing out to the eventual Turnbull Cup Champions, Niverville Nighthawks in five games.

“The Wolverines are thrilled to have extended the leadership of Coach/GM Landyn Cochrane,” says Governor Morley Watson. “Landyn is one of the brightest young minds in the MJHL, and his vision, dedication, and leadership will continue to guide the Wolverines as an annual contender.”

“I’m beyond excited and grateful to be extending my contract with the Wolverines organization and the Waywayseecappo Community,” says Cochrane. “Coming back home and helping build something special here in Wayway has always been a dream of mine. Over the past two seasons, we’ve taken important steps forward, and I’m excited to continue building toward our ultimate goal of bringing a championship back to the Waywayseecappo Community.”

“I want to sincerely thank Chief and Council for their continued trust and support in me and our vision for this organization. Their belief in what we’re building means a great deal, and I’m proud to continue leading this team and community for years to come.”

Th extension starts the team’s preparation for the 2026-27 season.
