Former Wolverine part of Canucks Development Camp

A former goaltender of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines has been part of the National Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks Development Camp this past week.

Brett Mirwald, who played for the Wolverines in the 2021-22 season, was invited to the camp last week.

The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan product, played 15 games with the Wolverines, putting up a 7-7-0 record, with a 2.95 Goals Against Average and .904 Save Percentage. He also played three playoff games that season.

After that season, he joined the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League, and had a 9-9-4 record last season in 26 games.

But this year he took home “WHL Top Goaltender” honours with the Giants. He ranked first in the WHL in saves (1,723), first in minutes played (3,190), tied for third in wins (29), and tied for third in save percentage (.913). Mirwald was also named WHL Goaltender of the Week a league-high five times this season.

The Canucks Development Camp finishes up on Thursday.
