Flyers get past Wolverines

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines lost another close game to a top team in the MJHL, but this time they weren’t able to take a point away from the game.

The Winkler Flyers beat the Wolverines 4-3 after using their penalty kill to stymie the Wolverines 2nd ranked powerplay, to go 0/7 in the game.

Dalton Andrew scored his league leading 21st and 22nd goals of the contest, and Mike Svenson added two assists of his own.

Ben Roulette scored twice for the Wolverines, with Owen Pringle scoring his first of the year for the other Wolverines goal.

Waywayseecappo nearly came back with less than a minute left and down by two, but they couldn’t break through in the final moments of regulation.

Kaiden Kirkwood stopped 27 of 31 shots on net, while Malachi Klassen stopped 25 of 28.

The Flyers were able to score on two of their four powerplays in the game.

The Wolverines will now travel to Virden to take on the Oil Capitals on Tuesday night at 7:30pm.
