The Winkler Flyers definitely showed why they are ranked #6 in the country with a dominating 5-2 win over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.
The Wolverines were outshot 50-15, giving their new goaltender Kaiden Kirkwood all he could handle, stopping 45 shots in the loss.
The Wolverines did get themselves a lead at one point in the second period, but the Flyers responded the rest of the way with four unanswered goals.
The Flyers started the scoring when Nich McKee scored 11:36 into the game.
In the second period, the Wolverines scored back to back, with Sean Williams scoring his 12th and 13th goal of the season.
But that lead was short lived when Trent Penner scored just over a minute later with a slapshot from the point, getting his 12th of the season.
The Flyers took the lead three minutes later when Spencer Shugrue scored by putting it past Kirkwood.
The Flyers really gave themselves a big lead when Noah Diemer scored with 8 seconds left in the period.
Winkler gave themselves the 5-2 lead late in the third when Zack Nicolas put the game away.
Liam Ernst was able to stop 13 of 15 shots in the game, getting himself the win.
In the first period, a line brawl broke out with many Wolverines ending up missing the rest of the game. Sam McPeak and Avery Anderson were the only ones given fighting majors.
For the powerplay, the Wolverines were 2/3 on the night, and the Flyers were 0/3.
The Wolverines next game will be on Friday when they travel back to Neepawa.
