Desjarlais excited to join teammate in Wolverines organization

One of Dayton Desjarlais’ first phone calls after he was drafted in the fourth round by the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on Saturday was from a teammate of his from the Winnipeg Thrashers who was also picked by the Wolverines in the first round.

Dayton said it didn’t take long for Carter Bear to pick up the phone and share his excitement.

“It’s pretty cool to be picked by the same team,” said Desjarlais. “He was pretty fired up when he gave me a shout.”

The Winnipeg product had 7 goals and 13 points over the course of 40 games last season in the Manitoba Under-18 Hockey League.

He said he is not too familiar with the Waywayseecappo area but has a family friend that played with the Wolverines in the past. But he is excited to be picked by the team and can’t wait to have a chance to play for the team in the future.

Desjarlais describes himself as an offensive player that controls the puck pretty often.
