Carlsons lead Wolverines to win over Titans

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines relied on a set of twins to get them to a 3-2 win over the Neepawa Titans.

All the Wolverines goals were scored by C. Carlson, with Cole scoring two (including his first since November 4th), and Caden had a goal which ended up being the game winner, and an assist.

Cole Carlson started the scoring at 12:11 of the first period, when was given the puck after a faceoff win by his brother. He was able to snipe it past Titans goaltender Gavin Renwick to make it 1-0.

Cole scored his second of the game in the second period when he skated all in and was able to level it over Renwick to make it 2-0.

Later on though, Neepawa got their first of the game when Carter McLeod scored off a favourable bounce that ended up on his stick to shoot it in a wide open net to make it 2-1.

But Caden Carlson made it 3-1, after a good forecheck and stick lift put the puck on his stick where he backhanded it past Renwick.

In the third, Hayden Stocks came in off the rush and was able to beat Tresor Wotton to make it a one-goal game, but that’s how close it got, with the Wolverines hanging on for the 3-2 win.

Tresor Wotton stopped 22 shots in the win, while Renwick stopped 27 in the loss.

The Wolverines moved up to first place in the West with the win and are tied with Dauphin with 53 points.

The team’s next game is on Friday in Swan Valley when they take on the Stampeders at 7:00pm.
