Ian Buors had a good idea that he was going to be picked in the MJHL Draft on Saturday, but he didn’t have an idea when.
But the St. Laurent product fell into the Wolverines lap in the fourth round for the 52nd pick of the draft.
“I was surprised that Wayway picked me, but I’m happy with their choice,” said Buors. “I feel like I’ll fit right in.”
The forward played last season with the Interlake Lightning Under-17 team, picking up 34 points (17 goals, 17 assists) in 34 games. He was called up as well to the Interlake Lightning Under-18 team for one game during the season.
“I felt like this was my best season in the AAA level,” said Buors. “I was more confident on the puck, improved with my skating, and was able to make better decisions because I had the puck more.”
Ian said he is really happy that the draft process is over and he found out what team picked him.
“I was thinking about (the draft) all week,” said Buors. “I’m really happy to be picked by the Wolverines.”
