Boone Hat Trick leads Wolverines to third straight

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines extended their win streak to three games with a 6-4 win over the Swan Valley Stampeders.

Boone Mathison scored a hat trick, and Nolan Grier added two more in the first two periods, and Aiden Ziprick added a goal in the third.

The Wolverines got out to a hot start, with the first three goals. It started with a Boone Mathison goal 4:13 into the game, finishing off a passing play from Andrew Boucher and Carson Baptiste.

He added a second goal just four minutes later, with assists from Boucher and Wheatley.

The Wolverines got another when Nolan Grier wired it past Kobe Grant to make it 3-0.

The Stampeders got on the board, when Noah Wilson tipped in a powerplay goal with under three minutes remaining in the first period.

In the second period, the Wolverines regained a three goal lead when Nolan Grier got out of the penalty box, got a big hit, and had a breakaway goal for his second of the game.

Swan got closer though when Griffin Ayotte scored with under five minutes left to play.

But just under a minute later, Boone Mathison picked up his hat trick goal, getting a pass from Carson Baptiste.

But before the end of the period, Swan added another a shorthanded goal when Jakob Jones scored on a breakaway.

The Stampeders got within one when Adam Rajsigl got a powerplay goal from a point shot.

But the Wolverines finished it off when Aiden Ziprick beat Grant with a shot from the point to make it a final, 6-4.

Tresor Wotton stopped 27 of 31 shots in the win, with Kobe Grant stopping 27 in the loss.

Swan was good on special teams, scoring two powerplay goals and getting a shorthanded marker. The Wolverines continued their struggles on the powerplay going 0/2.

The Wolverines will now take on the top team of the West Division, the OCN Blizzard on Thursday night at 7:30pm.
