Blizzard come back to stun Wolverines

The OCN Blizzard stunned the Waywayseecappo Wolverines after a late goal and an overtime winner gave them a 3-2 win.

Kieran Cooke scored with 4.4 seconds left in the third to tie the game up at 2, and then Sebastian Hamming scored a minute into overtime to give the Blizzard their third straight win.

The Wolverines started the scoring when Jack Clarke scored a crazy goal over Chase Hamm only two minutes into the game.

But OCN answered right away, 29 seconds later, when Ryan Monias tied it up.

After the rest of the period had nothing, the second period also delivered no scoring.

In the third, Cole Carlson scored his first MJHL goal on a breakaway to break the deadlock.

After OCN pressured in the later stages of the third, a penalty by Aiden Ziprick gave the Blizzard a 6-on-4 with 18 seconds left.

Cooke was able to get a shot off that beat Tresor Wotton and tied the game.

Hamming then scored in overtime.

The Blizzard move to 13 points on the young campaign and sit in first place in the West.

Meanwhile, the Wolverines still have yet to lose in regulation, but have dropped four straight OT games in a row to start the season.

The Wolverines play again on Saturday against the Swan Valley Stampeders before coming back to home ice on Tuesday for School Game against the Neepawa Titans at 12:30pm.
