Arkle finds himself with the Wolverines after Draft

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines picked two defencemen on Saturday during the MJHL Draft, and one of them was Jordan Arkle from the Rink Hockey Academy.

The 16-year-old was drafted in the fifth round with the 66th pick to the Wolverines during Saturday’s MJHL Draft.

“I was just watching my phone while sitting on the deck all afternoon,” said Arkle. “I was surprised to see that Wayway picked me but I was also quite happy.”

Arkle said the organization reached out to him afterwards and said he was a hard working player, which was one of the reasons for the pick.

The La Salle, MB product picked up 6 assists during the season playing in Winnipeg last year after missing the first part of the season due to injury.

“I think my season went pretty well,” said Arkle. “I like to favour my defensive game and skating, and it was just an overall good season at the Rink.”

Jordan said he knows Wolverines defencemen Aiden Ziprick from his time playing with the Rink Academy in years past, and has been told good things from players that are from the area, but that is as far as his knowledge of the organization goes.
