The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are coming off what could be chalked up as a successful year for the organization both on and off the ice.
A year removed from winning eight games in 2017-18, the Wolverines turned the ship around and rattled off a 28-27-2-3 record, good enough for the eighth and final playoff position. The team will look to take another positive step towards more wins in 2019-20 as the club has added some more offensively gifted forward.
Despite getting knocked out in four straight games by the eventutal MJHL and Anavet Cup winning Portage Terriers, a number of Wolverines from last years team gained valuable experience that cannot be taught.
The Wolverines scored 166 times in 60 games last year for a goals per game average of 2.77 with the teams 177 goals against seeing a 2.95 goals against per game on average.
Eleven players from last years roster will be featured in this year’s rendition, including Alex Lucken, Jack Kennedy, Anthony Bilka, Gerrik Ripley, Austin Cardinal, Conrad Phillips, Dylan Soosay, Jaymes Knee, Nick Doyle, Jack Tonnies and Ryley Cardinal.
Five new Wolverines were acquired via trade this offseason, including Thomson Phinney, Noah Westgate, Rayman Bassi, Matt Kasowski and Tyler Leibl.
Nine players on the Wolverines opening night roster were either listed or recruited by the Teams’ management.
