The Waywayseecappo Wolverines scored three goals in the last two minutes of the third period but it wasn't enough as they dropped a wild 8-7 decision to the Winnipeg Blues in front of just 137 spectators at the MTS Iceplex in Headingley on Saturday, Nov. 20. Evan Gravenor had a hat trick for the hosts, who held a 5-3 lead after 40 minutes. The teams were tied 2-2 after the first period. Paul Bonar, Connor Cleverley, Jeff Borse, Adam Stoykewych and Dylan Kelly added singles for the Blues. Paul Van De Velde had three goals and a pair of assists in a losing cause for the Wolverines. Ryan Duhaime chipped in with a pair of goals, while Shane Goodrunning and Matt Malenstyn notched singles. Brett Martyniuk stopped 30 shots in the Blues' net, while Brett Gagnon made 24 saves for the Wolverines.
Steinbach 5 Wolverines 3
Cam Hildebrand scored three goals, including the game winner, as the Hawks downed the Wolverines 5-3 in front of 396 fans in Steinbach on Friday, Nov. 19. The teams played through a scoreless first period, but the Hawks took a 2-1 lead into the dressing room after 40 minutes.
Mitch Chagnon and Jordan Hebert were the other Steinbach marksmen. Shane Goodrunning scored twice for the Wolverines, with Brett Pinkerton chipping in with a single. Addison Herosian made 39 saves to record the win in goal for the Hawks, while Brett Gagnon stopped 28 shots for the Wolverines.
WOLV TALK - The Wolverines are eight points back of the fifth place Dauphin Kings with one game in hand... Shane Goodrunning is the team scoring leader with 18 goals and 13 assists for 31 points. Paul Van De Velde is hot on his heels with 29 points... Curtis Veitch is the team penalty leader with 51 minutes... The Wolverines are 0-12-3 when trailing after two periods... The Wolverines hosted the OCN Blizzard on Thursday, Nov. 25, and will host the Steinbach Pistons on Saturday, Nov. 27 and the Winkler Flyers on Tuesday, Nov. 30.

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines managed just one point in four games in Manitoba Junior Hockey League action over the past week. In that stretch, the Wolverines lost three games in regulation and one game in overtime.
Dauphin 5 Wolverines 3
The Kings scored the only two goals of the third period to break a 3-3 second period tie enroute to a 5-3 win over the Wolverines in front of 1101 fans at Credit Union Place in Dauphin on Tuesday, Nov. 9. With the win, the Kings moved four points up on the sixth place Wolverines. The Wolverines, however, have a game in hand. Bryn Chyzyk, Jesse Sinatynski, Chris Daniels, Colton Graf and Brenden Kotyk scored for the hosts.
Dave Williams, Zaine Walker and Jordan Holovach replied for the Wolverines.
Brett Willows made 24 saves in the Kings' net, while Brett Gagnon stopped 41 pucks for the Wolverines.
Winkler 5 Wolverines 3
Four unanswered second period goals proved to be the difference as the Flyers downed the Wolverines 5-3 in front of 365 fans in Waywayseecappo on Sunday, Nov. 7.
Daniel Fainman scored twice for the Flyers, who led 5-1 after 40 minutes. Single markers came off the sticks of Chapen Leblond, Kyle Wells and Steven Sorenson. Dave Williams scored twice for the Wolverines, with Shane Goodrunning adding a single. Peter Alexander stopped 24 shots to earn the win in goal for Winkler, while Riley Feser made 19 saves in the Wolverines' net.
Selkirk 6 Wolverines 5 (OT)
Chris De la lande's overtime goal was the difference as the Steelers edged the Wolverines 6-5 in front of 795 fans in Selkirk on Friday, Nov. 5. The Wolverines trailed 4-3 after 40 minutes, but scored two quick goals in the third to take a 5-4 lead. The Steelers scored before the period ended to force overtime. Colan Jackson had a pair of goals for the Steelers, while Jory Geddes, Derek Gingera and Steven Zacharias were the other marksmen. Dave Williams had a pair for Waywayseecappo, with Matt Malenstyn, Andrew Bergmann and Shane Goodrunning picking up singles. Trent Michelick earned the win in goal with a 33-save performance. Riley Feser stopped 38 shots for the Wolverines in a losing cause.
Portage 5 Wolverines 0
Kirk Coswell stopped 22 shots to record the shutout as the Terriers blanked the Wolverines 5-0 in front of 548 fans in Portage la Prairie on Thursday, Nov. 4. Brenden Harms, Tyler Moore,
Cody Kostecki, Stephane Pattyn and Tanner Waldvogel each had a goal for the hosts, who led
1-0 and 4-0 at the intermissions. Brett Gagnon made 20 saves in the Wolverines' net.
WOLV TALK - The Wolverines host the Portage Terriers on Friday, Nov. 12 and the Winnipeg Blues on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Dave Williams scored his second goal of the game at 1:53 of overtime to give the Waywayseecappo Wolverines a 4-3 win over the Swan Valley Stampeders on Tuesday, Nov. 2 in Waywayseecappo.
An announced crowd of 348 watched as the Wolverines came back from a 2-0 first period deficit to defeat the co-leaders of the Sher-Wood Division in an important divisional matchup.
Zaine Walker and Shane Goodrunning, with his team-leading 12th of the season, also scored for the hosts who scored three unanswered second period goals to lead 3-2 after 40 minutes.
Brent Wilson tied the score on the powerplay midway through the third to force the extra session.
Brad McDonald and Cramer Coulthart were the other Swan Valley marksmen.
Brett Gagnon made 23 saves in goal for the Wolverines, while Dylan Wells stopped 39 shots for the Stampeders.
Winkler 6 Wolverines 2
The Wolverines held a 2-1 lead early in the second period, but it was all Flyers after that as they skated to a 6-2 win in front of 811 fans in Winkler on Saturday, Oct. 30.
Matt Loppkey scored twice for the hosts, who led 4-2 after 40 minutes. Single markers came off the sticks of Jordan Neduzak, Brock Genyk, Taylor Wells and Jake Rombach.
Paul Van De Velde and Shane Goodrunning replied for the Wolverines.
Reed Peters earned the win in goal with a 29-save performance, while Brett Gagnon made 27 saves in a losing cause.
Wolverines 4 Wpg. Saints 2
Paul Van De Velde's second period powerplay goal proved to be the game winner as the Wolverines doubled the host Saints in St. Adolphe on Friday, Oct. 29. Only 151 fans bothered to show up to see the game. Van De Velde finished the game with two goals, while Ryan Duhaime and Shane Goodrunning chipped in with singles. Shane Gingera scored both goals for the Saints, who trailed 2-0 and 4-1 at the intermissions. Riley Feser made 24 stops to earn the win in goal for the Wolverines, while Michael Deslauriers stopped 30 shots for the Saints.
WOLV TALK - At press time, the Wolverines were in last place in the Sher-Wood Division. However, only nine points separate the first and last place teams... Shane Goodrunning leads the Wolverines in scoring with 22 points, followed by Paul Van De Velde with 18... The Wolverines play three of their next five games at home. After traveling to Selkirk on Friday, Nov. 5, the Wolverines will host Winkler on Sunday, Nov. 7. The Wolverines will be in Dauphin on Tuesday, Nov. 9, and then will host Portage and the Winnipeg Blues on Nov. 12 and 13 respectively.
