COACHING STAFF

Barry Butler (GM, Head Coach):

The Wolverines are pleased to have Barry Butler back for his second year with the team after returning from the US where he was the GM and head coach for the Cleveland Barons of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). Barry brings with him a vast amount of hockey knowledge and is committed to the excellence of his players both on and off the ice. He has managed and coached at all levels of the game and his resume is loaded with highlights including being named NAHL Executive of the Year in 2002 (this marked the first time that a Canadian had won this award). Throughout his career Barry has solidified many relationships with pro scouts, and college recruiters and is committed to his players’ education and future endeavors.

Jim Fuyarchuk (Coach):

Jim is very excited about joining the Wolverines organization. He has 25 years experience coaching &/or managing at various levels of hockey: which include the professional level in Great Britain; Canadian University (U of New Brunswick & Brandon U); AAA Midget (Brandon); 4 years with the Australian National U/18 Team; and High School Hockey (WHSHL – Crocus Plains & Vincent Massey). Plus, he has been the Head Coach for Team Western (Hockey Canada – POE) at the U/17 World Hockey Challenge hosted in Nova Scotia in 2001. In addition, he spent a short time in South Africa working with the National Senior Men’s Team, which competed at the “C” Pool World Championships in Barcelona, Spain in 1994.

Wes Coulson (Volunteer Assistant Coach)

Wes has been a part of our team since 2004. He comes to us with a great amount of hockey experience. Wes Played with the Brandon Wheat Kings in 77/78-78/79. He also played Pro Hockey with Baltimore and Oklahoma City. Wes has also spent 5 years as the Head Coach of the Yellowhead Chiefs AAA Midget team.

Wes lives in Hamiota, MB with his wife Donna and has 2 daughters Erin and Lisa. He is a sales man at Murray’s Chevrolet in Brandon.

Our organization is extremely fortunate to have Wes as a part of our coaching staff!!

Calvin Mentuck (Equipment Manager):

I was born and raised in Waywayseecappo First Nation I attended and completed high school at Major Pratt School in Russell. I played one year AAA Hockey with the Yellowhead Chiefs and 3 years with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines Jr. “A” Hockey Club. In previous years I have coached minor hockey in the community of Waywayseecappo as well

Cam McGee (Team Therapist):

I grew up in Hamiota MB, after high school I attended the U of M and received a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science Degree with a Major in Athletic Therapy. Throughout University I had the opportunity to work with many different sports, but hockey was always my passion. I have a wide range of hockey experience all the way from high school up to the AHL and NHL level. I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with the Wolverines this season and look forward to contributing to the team’s success.
